In welcome news to first timers looking to take the exciting step into homeownership, the Queensland Government has extended the $30K First Home Owner Grant for another year until June 30, 2026. 

At a glance, for you this could mean:

• Another year up your sleeve to claim the $30K FHOG.

• Under new laws, you may be eligible to receive a full stamp duty concession reducing duty to nil as a first timer — potentially saving you tens of thousands of dollars.

• Since May 2025, you’re able to now rent out a room in your first home. This can assist in maximising your borrowing capacity and with extra room to breathe when it comes to making your mortgage repayments.

How do I know if I'm eligible for the QLD First Home Owner Grant?

As the name suggests, the FHOG is available to Queenslanders who have not yet purchased their first home or received the FHOG in another state or territory within Australia.

Other eligibility criteria include:

+ 18 years or older
+ An Australian citizen or permanent resident (or applying with someone who is)
+ You must live in your new home for at least 6 months
