Designed and made in Australia, for Australia.

Here in Australia, our homes face some pretty challenging weather conditions, from extreme heat and cold to dust, rain, wind and hail. That’s why we offer COLORBOND® steel roofs. COLORBOND® steel is durable and resilient to Australia's harsh climate. When building your new Simonds home, you’ll have 22 colours and 6 Matt finishes of COLORBOND® steel to choose from. From Melbourne’s urban streetscapes to the golden shores of the Sunshine Coast, regardless of where you are, COLORBOND® steel speaks to quintessential Australian design, giving you the opportunity to create a facade that effortlessly blends in, yet celebrates the diverse surrounding landscape.

Why choose COLORBOND® steel?

It’s tried and tested.

As the Great Australian Builder, we’re with you for the long haul, which is why we choose to use COLORBOND® steel. COLORBOND® steel is tried and tested in Australian conditions to look great and deliver outstanding, long life performance. COLORBOND® steel is assessed at outdoor sites around Australia, as well as in accelerated laboratory testing. As part of the assessment program, there are over 12,000 panels, at various Australian locations, to give a genuine understanding of how COLORBOND® steel will perform on real homes.

Thermal efficiency.

Energy savings are front of mind for many families right now; and savings start right with the very foundations of your home. Your roof colour can make a difference to your cooling bill, COLORBOND® steel has a range of colours that may meet the solar reflectance requirement for roofing under the Green Star Homes and Communities tools.  But there's another way that COLORBOND® steel can help make your home more energy efficient. COLORBOND® steel’s solar reflectance technology, Thermatech® technology, is designed to reflect more of the sun’s heat on hot, sunny days, which can mean less dependence on air-conditioning, plus reduced heat stress for your roof. Every colour (except Night Sky®) in the standard COLORBOND® steel range features Thermatech® solar reflectance technology.

Contains recycled materials.

As we’re trying to leave a better, more sustainable world for the generations after us, what better place to start, than right in the home and with the roof over our heads. All COLORBOND® steel contains recycled content and the steel in COLORBOND® steel is 100% recyclable. In some cases it can be reused without reprocessing, again saving on energy and resource use.

It gives you more time to enjoy life.

Settling into your new home should be about embracing the laid-back Australian way of living, not finding yourself overwhelmed with endless upkeep and maintenance. COLORBOND® steel is known for its durability and low maintenance. It incorporates BlueScope’s industry-leading metallic coating, incorporating Activate® technology, to provide enhanced corrosion resistance.1
