Ballarat is a city in the Central Highlands of Victoria, at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. A location with a lot of nationally significant history, Ballarat’s roots can be traced back to the gold rush. Now known for its many heritage sites, and for its significant growth plan backed by the City of Ballarat and the Victorian State Government, it’s the perfect location for new families, investors and retirees alike.

The Ballarat West Growth Area Plan was approved by the city and state government in 2010, planning an extensive fringe development consisting of 14,000 new homes and up to 40,000 new residences, including new activity centres and employment zones. A lot of Ballarat suburbs have been earmarked as part of this plan, including Delacombe, Winter Valley and others.

The City of Ballarat currently has two major activity centres; these are the Central Business District (CBD) and Wendouree, a 10 minute drive from the CBD. Each centre offers a number of amenities, including supermarkets, specialty retail stores, schools, medical centres and train stations. On top of these two centres, there are a further 11 neighbourhood centres in surrounding suburbs.

For those commuting to Melbourne, Ballarat central train station will take you directly to Southern Cross Station in Melbourne’s CBD in just 90 minutes.
