First Home Dreams in the Picturesque Gawler Region: Vivek and Lakshmi’s Story
For Vivek and Lakshmi, building their first home wasn’t just about finding the right design, it was about finding a builder they could trust as they set out on their exciting next chapter.
As they began their search, the couple explored a range of builders in the region, carefully comparing their options. But it was the flexibility and customer-first approach, thanks to their New Home Specialist, Shiv Arora, that initially stood out to the couple.
They found there was greater opportunity to personalise their floorplan and selections, allowing them to create a space that truly reflected their lifestyle and needs.
“We liked Simonds’ transparency, communication and flexibility. We found the inclusions to be really good value too,” Lakshmi notes.
That confidence carried through every stage of the journey, from the early drafting phases through to selections and construction.
“We are really happy about the journey, from the drafting to moving forward with the selections to handover, and the construction journey was amazing. They gave us fabulous updates, every week, of what they were doing and what they were expecting to finish,” Vivek says.
Clear, consistent communication helped turn what can often feel like an overwhelming experience, especially as first home buyers, into one that felt supportive and genuinely exciting.
The Simonds Fixed Price Guarantee was another key factor that gave them peace of mind, providing certainty and protection for the couple from any unexpected price increases along the way.
With that reassurance in place, their dream home quickly became a reality. After going to site in July, construction moved swiftly and by December, they were moving into their brand-new home.

Guided by Shiv, they chose to build the Mayne 30, one of our most popular single-storey designs in the up-and-coming Gawler region — just a stone’s throw away from Adelaide’s picturesque Barossa Valley. Spacious and thoughtfully designed, the home offered everything they were looking for with multiple living zones and a connected heart of the home.
Originally from Gujarat in India, the Vivek and Lakshmi moved to Adelaide in 2015 in search of new opportunities and a better future. Their home now stands as a reflection of that journey, not only for themselves, but for their family as well.
“Our parents live in India, when we called them and showed them [our home] on video call, this was a very proud moment for them because we built our first home in Australia. We also feel proud, because we made our parents' dream come true,” Lakshmi says.
Today, their first home stands as a symbol of everything they’ve worked towards, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Adelaide’s north.
