Beveridge, 42km north of Melbourne, is a small town surrounded by grassy plains, and is fast becoming a commuter town. As more and more people seek to live out their tree-change, towns like Beveridge, which are well connected with nearby transport options, are experiencing growth.
The town Beveridge may be familiar to many as it was the birthplace of the infamous bushranger Ned Kelly. His childhood home is still standing and is being restored by Heritage Victoria. Ned lived here for the first 9 years of his life.
Beveridge has a kindergarten and primary school. Secondary schools are just an 8-minute drive up the Hume Highway in Wallan or a 20-minute drive east towards Whittlesea.
The Greater Beveridge Community Centre is a state of-the-art purpose-built centre, which is the hub of all things community. Here you will find the maternal and child health nurse, Mums and bubs classes, karate, free wi-fi and rooms for hire.
The Hunter's Tryst is a local pub on the Old Hume Highway. This bluestone country pub has an open fire and a friendly community atmosphere serving great meals.
Beveridge is served by two train stations, both an 8-minute drive away, with Wallan Railway Station in the north and Donnybrook Railway Station in the south. V/Line offers services into Melbourne's Southern Cross Station, which takes an estimated 40 minutes.
The Mandalay Golf Course is a stunning 18-hole golf course with exceptional countryside views. The clubhouse has a restaurant open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A 6km walk around the golf course provides the perfect loop.
