Announcement regarding the COVID-19 virus
A message from Kelvin Ryan and Rhett Simonds, Simonds Group Joint CEOs and Managing Directors
We are experiencing extraordinary times due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. At Simonds Group we are leaning into the challenges to keep everyone safe and to maintain our business operations.
Simonds Homes is one of the longest-standing residential builders in this country and during our 70-year history we have built tens of thousands of homes for Australians. It is our decades of experience in the industry that has allowed us to react quickly to the challenges ahead.
The health and wellbeing of our staff, trades, suppliers, clients and the wider community is what matters to us above all else. We are closely monitoring all advice from the Australian Government and we are implementing a range of health and hygiene initiatives. It is also a time to reflect on those who have been impacted by this pandemic both here and around the world, and to be grateful for those who work so hard to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Simonds Homes Customers
Our building sites continue operating as usual, with a number of new measures and procedures to protect both our tradespeople and our customers. We’ve taken proactive steps to ensure our supply lines are secure. We are fortunate that the construction of a new home is carried out by singular trades and teams working outdoors, or with plenty of distance from others. Those building their home with us can be assured we are not forecasting any significant delays and your home will be delivered to the highest standards of quality.
Looking to build a Simonds Home?
If you’re looking to buy a new home, our display centres will remain open and our sales team is ready to assist you. If you prefer to engage with us virtually, we have the capabilities to arrange this as well as the option of arranging private viewings of our display homes. All that we ask, is if you are unwell or isolating (due to travel or exposure), please consider the health and wellbeing of others and let our consultants know so that they can find the best way to work with you.
Builders Academy Australia
Our training arm, Builders Academy Australia, are moving all face-to-face classes to our award winning, online ‘virtual classroom’ delivery model. This will ensure both the health of our students and that there is no disruption to the delivery of their training.
New ways of working
For our office-based teams across Australia, we are introducing a virtual working from home model that supports the social distancing advice from health authorities. This new flexibility will allow us to adapt to the challenges of this particular time, but we also believe it will enhance our business for the ongoing benefit of both our people and our customers.
We are all in this together
What the COVID-19 pandemic cannot do, is stop us talking and connecting. To our customers, our students, our staff, our trades and suppliers – whoever you are within the Simonds family – reach out if you need to. Like we often say, we are all in this together and staying connected will help us navigate these challenges and come out stronger on the other side. We will be providing regular updates to all stakeholders.
You’re in good hands
To finish, we’d like to share an insight from Gary Simonds, the founder of Simonds Homes. Gary reminded us that Simonds Homes hasn’t been around for seven decades by accident. Gary, and the business, have seen many ups and downs in that time. Adaptability has always been a key strength of this business – or we wouldn’t still be here. The one thing that has never changed though, is an unwavering commitment to delivering high quality, affordable homes for Australian families. And no matter what, that is how we will continue.
